Even the best in the world need help

Can you imagine what it's like to be the best in the world at something?

Or even close to the best in the world at something?

It's hard to even fathom how a mind at that level operates.

There's a board game designer that ranks among the greatest in his field that has ever lived, and I've loved playing his games. Unlike some other jobs where a person creates things, building a board game requires a constant influx of new people to play a game and provide feedback during the creation process. A board game will fail if it isn't hitting the right notes over a large number of groups that play it.

I reached out to this designer, told him I've loved playing his games, and if I could ever return the favor for everything he has provided, I would be happy to get my friends together and playtest any of his games.

He told me he was grateful for any help I could provide, and offered to drive to my house so he could walk through the game in-person. I made good on my offer, provided the best help I could, and it was an experience I'll never forget.
